Origin of “This Too Shall Pass” Quote
This quote has been acknowledged throughout history and across cultures, although the specific phrase seems to have originated in the writings of the medieval Persian sufi poets such as Rumi
This is a persian adage from around 1200AD, primarily due to a 19th-century retelling of Persian fable by the English poet Edward FitzGerald.
It means that all material conditions, whether good or bad, are transient. The proverb can make the happy person sad and the sad person happy because of the realisation that both the ‘best and worst of times’ will soon pass. Remember “your current situation, is not your permanent destination”!
